Where Do I Practice?Empty Parking Lots. Indoor and outdoor stadium parking lots as well as school parking lots are the best places to start driving. When In the empty parking lots, simply go in and out of each rows working on A)Braking, B)Acceleration, C)Left Turns, D)Right Turns, E)Using your Signal and F)Staying in your lane while going straight and while turning. Working in an empty parking lot and working on these basic driving techniques is how you get your foundation in driving. Get as many hours in the parking lot as possible before practicing in a low traffic residential neighborhood.
How To Turn The Steering Wheel?I teach and recommend the "push/pull" steering concept for all my students. I want my students to have full control of their steering and this is the safest and most accurate way to do so. You can practice this without moving your car or by using a kitchen plate. (video)
Acceleration and Braking Start off with light acceleration and braking in an empty parking lot. Keep the RPM's low and always below "2". Work on acceleration by gradually increasing your speed as well as maintaining your speed and gradually decreasing your speed by braking. (video)
